Fit and Seal Testing
Testing the fit and seal of your respirator is essential. Every face and head is unique, and what may work on one person may not work on you. Because of this, it is crucial to inspect and leak-test your SGE 150 mask prior to use.
To check that the seal on your mask is sound, you will need to perform a negative pressure test. To do this, cover the front filter port with your hand so that no air can flow through it to your mask and inhale.
If you feel immediate pressure on your face, and your mask sucks inward on your face like air out of a bag, your seal is perfect. If this doesn’t happen and/or you feel the air rushing in from somewhere in the mask, you have a leak in your seal that needs to be remedied.
Seal leaks can be resolved by adjusting the placement on your face, tightening the head harness, and ensuring identifying hair/ facial hair is not breaking the seal line. If none of this works, you might have to change the size of your mask.
